A THRIVING START TO TERM FOR REPTON'S NEW PUPILS
Repton School is celebrating a successful start to the academic year with new pupils, both day and boarding, settling into the community. Our diverse and extensive pastoral offering has been key in ensuring pupils feel well-supported, safe, and engaged in the many activities available on-site.
With 40% of new pupils beginning their Repton journey as new to boarding, settling into the school’s busy routine can be both exciting and at first challenging. However, the results of this year’s Michaelmas New Pupils’ Survey reflect overwhelmingly positive experiences. An impressive 99% of respondents said they have enjoyed their first term at Repton, with the same percentage feeling safe and well-cared for in school. The warm welcome they’ve received from their Housemaster/mistress, Matrons, Tutors, and peers has helped them adjust to their new environment with ease.
Repton School’s pastoral care has been strengthened through our use of STEER assessments, which help us monitor the wellbeing of our pupils, and ensure they receive the support they need. In addition, the school’s facilities have been open throughout weekends for both B and A Block pupils. From tug of war competitions to Unison rehearsals to baking masterclasses and various social gatherings, our pupils have been actively engaged in a broad range of activities. Those in the Lower Sixth have also enjoyed year group lunches, helping to foster strong peer connections across the year group as well in the houses.
The survey responses reveal that new pupils have relished the opportunity to meet new people, explore the school’s state-of-the-art facilities, and dive into the academic, social, and sporting opportunities available. Pupils have been particularly pleased with the friendliness of older year groups, the independence they are gaining, and the one-to-one academic support they have received.

“I’ve really enjoyed being able to interact with the girls in my house and also enjoy the balance I have within school, swimming, and downtime.”
“I’ve most enjoyed being independent and the other years have been very nice and helped us settle in.”
“The Upper Sixth have been very nice, and the school facilities are excellent.”
