REPTON SCHOOL APPOINTS DR GAVIN TURNER AS PRINCIPAL DEPUTY HEAD

Repton School is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Gavin Turner as Principal Deputy Head.

Dr Turner brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership, having held senior roles at leading coeducational day and boarding schools. Most recently, he served as Deputy Head Academic and Director of the English Language Centre at Clifton College, following his tenure as Director of Teaching and Learning at Bradfield College. His distinguished career also includes key positions at St Edward’s School, Oxford, and Marlborough College, where he played an integral role in academic and pastoral development.

With a Doctorate in Education from Homerton College, Cambridge, and a Masters in Learning and Teaching from Kellogg College, Oxford, Dr Turner is committed to fostering an environment of academic excellence. His strong belief in the importance of sport and co-curricular engagement—shaped by his own experience playing national league rugby and earning three Blues at Oxford—aligns with Repton’s ethos of balance and participation in all spheres. His passion for promoting positive wellbeing through outstanding pastoral care further strengthens Repton’s commitment to developing well-rounded individuals.

Headmaster Mark Semmence warmly welcomes Dr Turner to Repton: "We are thrilled to welcome Gavin to Repton as Principal Deputy Head. His extensive leadership experience, academic expertise, and commitment to the holistic development of young people make him an outstanding addition to our Senior Leadership Team. His dedication to academic excellence and pastoral care perfectly aligns with our values here at Repton, and we have no doubt that he will play a key role in shaping the future of our school."

Dr Turner will be moving to Repton with his wife, Laura, also a teacher, and their three daughters. We look forward to welcoming them to the Repton community.
