REPTON SCHOOL CELEBRATES A LEVEL PUBLIC EXAMINATIONS SUCCESS

Repton School pupils are celebrating their A Level and BTEC results with nearly 40% of entries being awarded an A* or A grade, and 70% A* to B. As a result of these fantastic achievements, just under 60% of Reptonians have secured their first-choice place at prestigious Russell Group Universities.

Fifteen pupils achieved straight A*s and As with particular congratulations going to Gonazlo Mugarra (A*A*A*A*A*), Harry Stone (A*A*A*A*), Florence Thomas (A*A*A*A*), Michael Williamson (A*A*A*A*), Joseph Jenkinson (A*A*A*) and Daniel Kennedy (A*A*A*) achieving a clean sweep of the top grades. Harry also represented Great Britain U21’s at hockey whilst at school and Daniel was a member of Repton’s elite swimming programme, competing internationally.

Repton pupils continue to win entry to the best Ivy League colleges in the US, with Martha Broderick, Ella Bowman and Ottilie Sykes winning places at Cornell, Dartmouth and Princeton respectively. They are all elite hockey players, with Ottilie representing England U21s and participating in the GB Elite Development Programme. These Reptonians, alongside many others, epitomise the highly successful approach of our scholar-athletes.

Repton School’s Headmaster, Mark Semmence praised Repton’s Upper Sixth Formers for their outstanding set of results and praised the determination and resilience they displayed throughout their A Level courses.

“We are ambitious for every one of our pupils and it is fantastic to be able to recognise their success on results day. For this cohort, they have endured unprecedented circumstances having missed out on their GCSE public examinations due to the pandemic. So, it is a testament to their resilience and hard work in addition to the dedication and commitment of Repton’s teaching and examination staff that our pupils have achieved the results that will allow them to fulfil their aspirations beyond Repton.”

There is much to celebrate across the whole Upper Sixth and we wish them the very best of luck and look forward to hearing of their achievements and adventures in the years to come.
